I completed my undergraduate education in Advertising at Istanbul Bilgi University and earned my master's degree in Fashion and Textile Design from NABA Milano. My interest in visual arts and the impact of images on society, which began during my undergraduate studies, continued to flourish in my master's program as I delved into the various approaches of designers and artists utilizing textiles and garments as artistic tools.
I successfully completed my doctorate degree at Marmara University's Textile department, presenting my thesis titled “The Role of Activist Art in the Labour Struggles in the Garment Industry” in 2023. My fascination with the impact of images on society evolved over the course of my academic career, initially within the realm of visual communication and later extending into the field of fashion and textiles.
In my academic research, I scrutinize critical artistic practices developed through the use of textile-related materials to critique the very industry itself. Simultaneously, I utilize those problematic materials associated with this industry in my personal pursuit of well-being by creating artworks. I’ve been participated multiple group exhibitions with my artworks. On the other hand, to honor and elevate the textile handicrafts inherited from my family, I established the handmade bag brand, Hooop the Bag, in 2014. This endeavor garnered recognition, including first prizes in the Turkey Registered Brands Association Design Competition in 2017 and The Independent Handbag Designer Awards in 2018.
Since embarking on my academic journey as a Research Assistant in 2016, I have served as a lecturer in the Textile and Fashion Design department at Istanbul Okan University since 2017. I attained the position of assistant professor in 2023, and I continue to contribute to the field through my ongoing academic research endeavors.
