"Only flowers" is the artist's understatement, a play with words, reflecting on her tackling of figurative painting to hide the blatant, beautiful but also scary heads masked as gold-clad sunflowers. The flowers are golden faces, resembling the sun and also humans dressed in carnival masks, and the same time, they resemble human skulls. The vivid yellow of the flower, and various ornaments, as much as the golden faces convey pulsating energy, attracting the gauze, while each skull-like eye carries an eerie, uncanny touch. The "sunflowers" attract and repulse us at the same time, as a hint at mankind's demand for what is an illusion of beauty, perfection, youth, and immortality.
