Born in Bologna, Italy, in 1964, Andrea Benetti is the creator and author of the Manifesto of Neo-Cave Art, presented at the 53rd Venice Biennale. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with numerous Italian and international universities on artistic and research projects, and his work has been the subject of academic studies conducted by several higher education institutions.
Benetti’s artworks are held in important public, institutional, and private collections worldwide, including those of the United Nations, the Vatican, the Quirinal Palace, and the Italian Parliament, as well as museums of contemporary art in Italy and abroad. His artistic research has been examined and discussed by numerous university scholars, art historians, and leading critics, many of whom have contributed to publications and projects related to his work.
In 2020, he was awarded the 49th Nettuno d’Oro, the City of Bologna’s most prestigious cultural honor, in recognition of his contribution to contemporary art and culture.
